Catch up post...

Don't really like how this one turned out but was stuck how else to do it. Layout is from ICS#40 and the colors were inspired by SPCC Christmas Combo #9.

Gotta a little bit into the blinging on this one! FUN! It was also fun to try and find a way to use 7 different ribbons! Love how it turned out. Used the layout from Delightful Sketches #10, the color challenge from Stamp 'n Scrap Hawaii, and theme from A Spoon Full of Sugar #75.

Day 243 - Beautiful Bouquet
I've never used this stamp so was thrilled to have a reason to! Used the layout/challenge from Limelight #33 and it fits this week's Flutter by Wednesday #81 challenge.

Day 244 - You're so Transparent
Actually got 4 different forms of transparency on this one. They are: vellum (embossed with swirls), printed acrylic (clear with black dots backed with kiwi kiss paper), "Cheers!" sticker (a transparent rubber material), and Glossy Accents (on the glasses). Been wanting to use this stamp set too. Used the layout from Cupcake Crafts Challenge #63 and theme from Cute Card Thursday #84.

Used mainly scraps to make this one (the striped ribbon was cut anew but everything else was from the scrap piles). I've also wanted to use this stamp for a while but it's so small that I never did...think I might get into making inchies now! So cute and so quick to put together! No other challenges for this one...

With the completion of this card I think I'm caught up for the month at 365. This is my submission for this week's TMITA challenge, as well as the MOJO110.

TFL and as always if you're interested in details, leave a comment and I'll either post them or respond directly to you. Aloha and Happy Halloween!

2 Card post during the week!

Day 239 - Super Sketchy Sunday
Quick (i.e., used no other challenges on this one) submission for Sunday's sketch challenge at 365. Used my new Imaginisce Christmas paper and coordinating stamp. Was going to make the top triangle into a flap (like Pam did on hers), but I decided I wanted to use the fleece to look like a scarf and it was too complicated to make it all work tonight so just did what you see. ;) Thought it was kinda different with the fleece.

Day 240 - Pin up
Again used my new Imaginisce papers and coordinating stamp (can I say how much I'm loving coordinating papers?! Not sure why it took me so long to get into them!) I used safety pins to meet this challenge which I thought went well with the mittens (how many of us had their mittens/gloves pinned to their coats to prevent them being lost?!) :) Used the layout from Stamping 411 (SSC122).

These aren't for any challenge but wanted to share the projects we did at a SU! workshop on Friday (we had the day off due to our first furlough).
This pic is of an orange lumiere (sp?), a box with a rice krispie treat, and a test tube with m&m's.
This is a banner.

This is a set of cards that are put into the covered Spam can in the middle. Because I don't eat Spam and my hostess only had one extra can, I made a box (see below) to contain my second set (directions found on SCS)

Saturday Post #2

Day 236 - Pretty Paisley
Got this DSP a couple of weeks ago and just realized today that it had a paisley pattern, YEAH! Needed a birthday card to add to my stash so here it is :) The layout is from ICSketches #39.

Day 237 - Friday's Five
May have stretched this challenge a bit. It was to use "5 stamps". Which I did but several are repeated in the circles so it may look like more than 5...oh well. Wanted to use the sketch from last week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge#40 so I needed the repetition. My mom suggested leaving some of them blank but I forgot when I got to doing it...he he...maybe I shouldn't try to make so many cards in one day :)

Day 238 - Fine Twine
Hum...this one was created on the fly and not quite sure if I like it or not. It makes a great CAS card, but think it's missing something...not sure what though. It is a pocket so the sentiment will be on the inside. Kinda interesting with the combo of twine and satin ribbon... Layout is from Stamps and Smiles Sketch Challenge #37.

In my rush to post I forgot another challenge that this last card was made for Flutterby by Wednesday #80.

TFL!!!

Wacky Fabric Trio...

Day 233 - Favorite Fabric
Oops, forgot to take a picture of the inspiration fabric. :) Will do that and add it later. Used the layout from Clean and Simple (FTL#65).

Here's the inspiration fabric. My mom made this and several pillowcases for me shortly after I moved to Hawaii. Thanks Mom!! ;)

Day 234 - Tuesday's Trio
Trio was a pearl, ribbon and tag. Used the layout from MOJO109. Got the idea for the ribbon "tying" from my mom (see her card here).

Day 235 - Wacky Color Wednesday
Colors were Red, Purple, and Brown...kinda stumped by this one but was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. Layout if from Get Sketchy #11 with a bonus to use buttons.

This is late post for 365, but uses this week's There's Magic in the Air (TMITA) image and challenge. The challenge from 365 was to use 2 techniques of layering (Day 224). The challenge at TMITA was to up pop-dots. I kinda went overboard with this one and ended up with 3 layers on my card (see the close up). Wish I'd done something else with the card base, but was stumped so put it together as is. The layout is from Tuesday Morning Sketches #16.

If you want/need any details about any of the posts, please leave a comment and I'll either leave the answer on your blog or post them here. Thanks for looking! Aloha

Day 232

Day 232 - Super Sketchy Sunday
Okay, it's a day/two late, but here's my submission for the sketch challenge this week. I tried to make it look like a window, the scallops on the right side are the curtain (they need something but I couldn't come up with anything...) and the feather yarn on the right is a "garland" with rhinestone "berries" (actually crocheted this really quick so it had some weight). :) The sentiment was cut out on my Cricut using the Don Juan cart. TFL!

And just as a side note, when I was taking a pic of the card, Malie came up and looked like she wanted her picture taken too. Well, she had gotten a bag full of hand-me-down clothes today so she tried one on...OMG. She still HATES getting dressed up. It's really the only time she will sit ABSOLUTELY still...not sure why, but it makes me laugh EVERY time! You know the saying "If looks could kill"? Well, I'm just relieved it isn't true because the looks she gives me are scolding! Regardless, the pink coat was adorable but I can't see her wearing it outside...guess we'll have to wait until it gets into the 70s to try it! :-O

Catch up cards

Day 221 - Imagine This: Denim
Playing catch up for the week of cards I missed. This is my attempt at denim. Used a paper that already looked like denim but it was too light for me, so I added baja breeze ink and then softened that a bit with white ink. It's supposed to look like a wallet in the pocket...maybe will use it for next year's Father's Day card! ;)

This one was a bit challenging to figure out how to do but cracked me up after I got it together. It's supposed to look like a flashlight is shining on the small monkey making the shadow in the wall. Anyway, still cracks me up even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else ;) I'll also submit this one for:

Also wanted to share two neat things that happened to me in the last 24 hours! First I won the prize at Stamp n' Scrap Hawaii (helps that I was the only entry, but it's still nice!) and second, I made the top three at Pile it On! How FUN!!! Guess, having computer problems has helped my mojo and luck! ;) Hope you have a great week! Aloha!

Days 226, 228-231

Day 226 - So...
Got back into the groove this Saturday and was able to complete all the challenges for this week at 365 Cards. This one was to use the word "SO" on your card. I'm also using the digi and challenge from this week's There's Magic in The Air. Layout is loosely based on this week's Mojo (#108). Several sites had Halloween-themed challenges so I'm also submitting this one for the following challenges:

Day 228 - Same, but Different
This is for the Same, but Different challenge at 365 Card, i.e., to use the same patterned paper in different colors. Used the layout from Get Sketchy #10. I needed a sympathy card for my dad who buried a dog that he took care of for the last year. We dubbed the dog "Rufus" and he showed up in the yard one day. He had a wonderful and peaceful last year of his life.

Day 229 - Color Scheme
Day 229 was to use a kinda fall-toned color scheme. Luckily I had recently gotten this designer paper (Autumn Vine from SU!) that had close to the colors...I used a bit darker pink tone in the Really Rust and didn't emphasize the Sage Shadow (green) which is on the DSP. Layout is from Inspiration Sketch Challenge #33 and Penny's Challenge #11 (an autumn-themed card with a tree).

Day 230 - Shape Up!
Day 230 was to use a semi-circle shape or shapes as a focus on the card. Layout is based on Card Patterns #37 and will also submit this for the Halloween-themed challenges from above and one more:

Day 231 - Image This - The Sky
My inspiration from the sky was the colors (blue for how it usually is and pink for the color at sunrise) and what's in it (i.e., butterfly). Used the layout from Stamping 411 (SSC121). Also submit this one for another ABC Challenge F is for Flying.

Whew! Think that covers it all for now :) If you want/need any details on any of the cards posted in this one, please leave a comment asking for them and I'll add them in. TFL! Aloha!

Froggy in Motion

This is my entry for Day 227 at 365 Cards. CASE'd another card that I made in August, but when I showed that one to my co-workers they all thought it would be great to re-make for our boss using a frog and a soccer ball (da boss collects frogs and is an avid soccer player). Anyway, figured it'd work for this challenge too, so whipped it up tonight (Boss's day is this Friday!). Tried to carry the "motion" through to the inside by finishing the sentiment inside (does anybody else ever worry that you're misspelling a word(s) when stamping it letter by letter?!? I think I got all of these spelled correctly!). TFL!

Birthday Sketch

Day 225 - Super Sketchy Sunday
Here's my submission for Sunday's sketch challenge at 365 cards. Not thrilled with the black elements, but wanted to use the rub-ons that are on the strips so not much choice anyway. Think I'm going to use it for a birthday card to a 7 yo girl so I doubt she'll mind :) TFL!

Cherries again...

This is my submission for last week's Day 220 challenge at 365 Cards...yeah, yeah, I know...I'm late, but with computer problems last week (that are continuing intermittently) I didn't get this (or others done as I planned). Plus I had to finish the cross-stitch! (hehe) It's not a true Mary E design but thought it was close enough to please my mother (a ME fan) or my friends who are also fans! ;) Although there isn't much of a 'pile' I used the sketch from Pile It On! First time participating in this challenge and thanks Aly for the great sketch! Didn't do this for a challenge but made the cross-stitch into a magnet that can be removed from the card. TFL!

The best thing is a mouse?

This is my submission for There's Magic in the Air - Digi and Color Challenge. Also used the layout from CCBJ33.

This is my submission for MOJO107 and Scrap 'n Stamp Hawaii (image and senti are from this site).

Interested in deets on my projects? Leave a comment letting me know and I'll post them. TFL!

Best Fishes!

Day 219 - In and Out
This is my submission for 365 Cards to use weaving on your card. I had already done a woven background on this card, so thought I'd try something else. This is an origami fish that I found the directions for in my "The Guide to Hawaiian-Style Money Folds" book. Actually, my mom found the directions on the Internet years ago after we went to Kauai and saw them in a gift shop there. I made them for Christmas favors that year and used wrapping ribbon. Not sure where the directions were from, but here's a neat video that I found that shows how to do it with coconut palm fronds. Anyway, also used the WCMD #1 color challenge from SPCC (see below) and the Get Sketchy layout challenge (GS#8). TFL!

Coffee anyone?

Decided to do some other challenges besides those at 365! So here's my submission for the following challenges:

Just a footnote...I assembled this card too quickly and forgot to add a ribbon where the layers meet. I guess it works in a CAS way but I think that would have set it off a bit more...oh well! TFL anyway! ;)

BTW, I can't take credit for the quote...my aunt sent it to me to make her some cards with it...but since then I've seen it another place unfortunately I don't know the author :(

Winter Wonderland

Day 218 - Super Sketchy Sunday
This one didn't turn out as I intended, but as this was the second attempt...I just went with it! Decided to do an artistic interpretation of today's sketch and flipped it upside down. Hard to tell but the metal piece says "May you never lose your sense of wonder". Looks like another Christmas card down... ;) Aloha and hope you have a GREAT week!

Elemental Ghouls Rule Peacefully

Day 215 - 4 Elements
Did a bit of different take on this challenge as I wanted a card I could use to give to someone :) So instead of literally representing the elements (i.e., air, water, earth, and fire) or through just colors, I found these Martha S bird stickers that give me different colors for the elements (from top left clockwise: air, water, earth and fire) and I can give this card to my dad who is a birdwatcher! YEAH! :)

Day 216 - Ad Inspired
Kinda went for the patterns and colors on this inspiration, plus I wanted another Halloween card (not traditional Halloween colors but oh well!)! Very simple and quick, LOVE IT!

Day 217 - Stampin' Saturday
Wanted to make a Christmas card to meet this challenge. The stamp is stamped in versamark ink and embossed with glittery EP. Also used OCCC's Monochromatic Mania challenge from last week. Oh yeah, also used the layout from Inspiration Sketch Challenge#36. In my rush to upload this on Saturday I forgot to include the ABC challenge "E is for embossing" for this card too.
TFL!
