365 Cards - Day 276 - Ephemera

Aloha and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards. Pam did again with another "fun" challenge for us. She wants us to use a piece of "ephemera" on our cards...what's that you say? Well, I had to look it up too! Here's what I found on Wikipedia, "...transitory written and printed matter not intended to be retained or preserved"...hum...that helped?!? Oh well, I checked with Pam if ticket stubs would work and she said "yes" so here's what I came up with. This is actually not only a vintage style card (thanks for getting me in the groove last week Gloria!), it's also a theme as the ticket stubs were from a couple of May Day concerts by the Brothers Cazmerio that I went to years ago, so I went with a "May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii" theme! That's an actual song by the way and I found the lyrics for it and made them into my background paper. I had some fun goodies from the Pixie Petals shop (i.e., those fabulous crochet flowers, the doily that you can barely see in the photo, and that seam binding ribbon) so I incorporated those into this creation. I had so much of the ribbon that I used it and some eyelash yarns (3 different colors of green) to make a "miniature" crochet lei. Really super easy! The sentiment says "Me ke aloha" which means "with love" in Hawaiian. I carried that into the inside...
I found this sentiment on-line...and used my fabulous new MS branch border punch too!

Here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. A Crafty Little Place - anything goes
2. Craft Your Days Away Challenge - texture
3. Crazy 4 Challenges - script paper
4. Delightful challenges - flower power

9. My Time To Craft Challenge - vintage
10. Totally Stampalicious - anything goes
11. Tuesday Throwdown - embellish it

Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see what ephemera you find!!!

D2D Gift Giving from the Heart blog hop

Aloha and E Komo Mai (welcome) to the Designed2Delight Gift Giving from the Heart Blog Hop!! Rather than a regular blog hop, you can check out the new D2D Card Ideas blog for pictures of all the projects the Design Team came up with and check out the ones that you want to. But why not visit them all and leave a little love?!? You could win some digis for yourself! YEAH! Again, check out the new D2D Card Ideas blog for all the details.

For my project I used the Tropical Christmas image on the inside of my card tag and the Candy Cane Circle image for the frame on the front. I'm making these for my holiday gifts to co-workers and knew I'd need about 25...well, didn't have enough supplies to make all 25, so the first round was a lucky 13 (and that's what the cost breakdown is based on...). Not too bad! Here's some other pictures and details...

I used the "all-in-one-box" tutorial from Splitcoaststampers to make the box out of Crumb Cake cardstock. Instead of using the scallop edge on the template for the box top, I used an edge punch. The ribbon is from Stampin' Up and is currently in their clearance rack for $1.99 for 10 yards! (that's why the cost for that is so cheap! If you need a SU! demonstrator to order some, check out my mom's blog!). The cookies are Vanilla Bean Shortbread from a mix (found at Target) and hand-dipped in milk chocolate...yummy!

Here's a close up of the card tag...

The tag measures about 2x2.5" when closed. Since I was mass producing this, I colored the images in the Microsoft Paint program and then laid out multiple tags in a Word doc. I got 8 tags from one sheet of cardstock. I punched a 3/4" circle in the front so you can see the inside scene. Added "Mele Kalikimaka" (Merry Christmas in Hawaiian) above the frame and "Made just for" underneath. It's hard to tell in the picture but I printed the tag on shimmery cardstock which gives a sparkly shine to the image. Then, simply punched a small hole in the corner and tied it to the bow with linen thread. Just as an aside, I did manipulate Faith's image a bit to work it in the size I needed. I moved the moon and Santa part of the image to the left and up a bit to accommodate the card size. So easy to do with digital images!

And lastly here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this project:
1. Alphabet Challenge Blog - E for embossing: not sure if you can tell in the picture, but I used the Swiss dots embossing folder on the bottom of the box.
2. C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - Christmas Present project
3. Catch The Bug Challenge Blog - Christmas presents

15. Totally Gorjuss - a tree: got those palm trees!
