Princess Valentine

Needed to do something creative tonight (instead of the work I SHOULD be doing), so I looked at some challenges and this was the card I came up with. Image is a freebie from Dustin Pike. Love his cuties! So here's the other challenges I'll submit this to:
~ Alphabet Challenge - N is for New
~ ColourQ #17 - real read, bashful blue, taken with teal, black, white
~ Crafy Creations - celebration (I'm celebrating LOVE)
~ Doodle Dragon Studio #2 - layout + doodle dragon image
~ Flutter By Wednesdays #94 - butterfly, fairy, or angel
~ Friday Sketchers #87 - layout (was very similar to DDS and with a little creative license I though I made it work for both)
~ Our Creative Corner - Musical inspiration (the sentiment on the front is from a song)
~ Polka Doodles - Valentine's card/project with non-traditional colours (since the DT used some red, I figured it was okay)
~ Saturday Spotlight - oversized items (I thought the red ribbon was a bit oversized)
~ Sweet Stampin Challenge #11 - Scallops

Well, that's all for challenges and here's evidence that I finished the inside of this one too...

Little Prince Ian

Although the The Greeting Farm CHA Relay was canceled, I had this card almost completely done for yesterday so I went ahead and finished it tonight. How could I pass up making a handsome "little prince"?!? Layout is from The Sweet Stop #40. Will also submit this to Simon Says - Baby. Couldn't decide if I should color the crown to the left and if so, what color? Left it plain so not to distract from the main image, but what do you think? Should I color it?

And here's the finished inside...
TFL and hope you have a wonderful Friday!

Baby Toby - TGF CHA Relay Day 3

Okay this relay is starting to wear on me...but I'm staggering through! :) This is my take on Toby the Cub. I decided to make him into a baby card. The sentiment that's on the tag (which is removable) say "A child is the greatest poem ever known." I used the layout from Lili of the Valley - Challenge 45. Other challenges this one will go to:
~ The Pink Elephant #51 - Recipe Challenge (polka dots, bow, pink)
~ Cooking it up with Katie #9 - (1. Use a "non human" image, 2. Add some texture, 3. Use a product you've never used before (this could include using a new stamp/image): I'm counting my ribbon and flowers as the texture and I've never used this image before!
~ Paper Sundaes #2 - Recipe (Brown, pink, lace, flowers) - hope that lace punch counts...didn't have any real white lace to go with this one

And here's evidence that I met my personal challenge:

TGF CHA Relay - Day 2 - Charlotte

Here's TGF's Ms. Charlotte in all her stunning glory! When I saw the sneak peek last night I almost immediately thought she looked a bit 70's so I went with that theme. The silver circle is my interpretation of a disco ball (yes, that's my reflection of taking the picture in it!) and I thought the papers had a retro feel to them too. Of course, she needed glittery blue eyeshadow (but maybe that was from the 80's? Oh well, I thought it looked cool!). I used the layout from Card Patterns Sketch #48. I'll also submit this one to Gingersnap Creations #39 - Metallics and Charisma Cardz Challenge #3 - Fruity colors (the card based is "purely pomegranate"!). Think that about covers it for tonight. OH  YAY, I also met my personal challenge of finishing the inside...here's a pick of that:

Magical Monday - Think Love

Aloha and Welcome to another Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes! Today's image is a super adorable giraffe who's thinking of love! I got to set the challenge today and I want to see you use this image on a box, bag, or container to hold TREATS! With Valentine's Day just around the corner I thought some new ideas for this sweet holiday were in order.

For my creation, I wanted to do something totally different and I wanted to do something with a CUPCAKE (in honor of Nina's Paper Cupcakes store and her new images!), I found this cupcake template on line. It's by Kelleigh Ratzlaff and can purchased at the The DigiChick webstore (find it here). I attached my giraffe to a toothpick and stuck that through the "cherry". Although you can't see it in the photo, the back of the image is a mirror image of the front, so matter which side you look at it from, you see the super cute image! To attach the thought bubble, I wrapped some wire around a lollipop stick and glued it between the layers. I think everything else should be self-explanatory, but if you have any questions please leave it in a comment! ;)

Here's a close up pic of the image...

Here's a pic of it opened...

I'm also entering this in the Just Us Girls Challenge #17 - Template.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a fantastic week!
Aloha,

Mer Ian

Aloha! I created this card to participate in The Greeting Farm's CHA Relay. I've been drooling over these images for a while and what a great way to get some for free! Hopefully, I can keep up the pace to participate all week, but we'll see. :) Colored Mer Ian with Prismacolor Markers and my favorite parts are the highlights in his hair and the scales on his tail (wish I'd put stickles on him too...but didn't think of it until after posting it...maybe before I give it to someone). Patterned papers are Heidi Grace. Used the sketch challenge from The Pink Elephant #50. I thought it was perfect the way it was so no modifications.

Be My Valentine

Aloha! Apparently I'm in a "how many challenges can I combine in one card?" mode as this is the second weekend that I've spent the day finding numerous challenges and creating a card to fit them! It really gets those juices flowing! So here is today's creation. I was lucky enough to download this free digi stamp set from Verve a couple of weeks ago and was thrilled to find many Valentine's Day/Love/Heart challenges that it was perfect for!

INSIDE

On the inside, I created a text box in Word and then cropped and pasted the heart image around it to give a border. Those pink buttons are handmade (paper punches with holes poked and glossy accents covering). I'm getting used to using the sewing machine so some layers are attached by sewing.

So here are all the challenges:
1. A Spoon Full of Sugar #87 - Lot of Layering
2. Bee Craft - #22 - Favourite Colour Combo (+digi)- Pink is my absolute favorite color but I've also grown to love combining it with red hence my favorite combo!
3. Caardvarks - Red Heart Challenge (use red and hearts) - got'em both in there :)
4. Crafty Creations Challenge #51 - Valentines or Love
5. Crazy 4 Challenges #21 - Pretty in Pink
6. Creative Belli Challenge #83 - Hearts!
7. Creative Card Crew #43 - Punch It
8. Dare U 2 Digi Stamp Challenge #29 - Buttons (+ Digi)
9. Easy Breezy "Kewl" Colour Challenge - Riding Hood Red, Pink Piroquette, Whisper White, Soft Suede -added a soft suede color ribbon to meet this one...liked the pop of brown with the pink, red, and white
10. Get Sketchy #22
11. Humble Pie - Love - use Red, Pink and White + hearts
12.  Idli Co's Creative Challenge #8 - use Red, Pink, White
13. Incy Wincy Designs - Challenge #26 - Colour Me Wonderful (use your favorite coloring medium): mine
is Prismacolor Markers which were used to color the heart on the front
14. Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge - Valentine's Day
15. KL Stampin N Scrapin Challenge #14 - Nesties, Punches, or Dies, OH MY!
16.  La-La's Weekly Wednesday Challenge #22 - Fancy Fold Cards - forgot to mention that I followed the
Triangle Trifold toot on SCS...think it's somewhat "fancy"
17. Little Paper Shop Challenge #51 - Button It
18. Moxie Fab World - Start to Finish (complete the outside and inside): this also meets my personal
challenge to finish the inside of my cards this year!
19. Papertake Weekly Challenge: Pretty Pink Papertake
20. Pile It On - Challenge #2 - Tie it around it (use 3 ribbons)
21. Raise the Bar Challenge #2 - the gift that keeps on giving (use anything that someone has given you): the
pink ribbon was given to me by my DM :)
22. Simon Says ... Punch it!
23. The Corrosive challenge #47 - Let's go Digi!
24. Your Next Stamp Challenge #8 - Anything that sparkles: see the rhinestones?!? :)

Whew...think that's about it for now! Gotta figure out a quicker way to write up these multiple challenge postings!

Aloha,

Magical Monday - Tons of Love!

Welcome to third Magical Monday of 2010 with There's Magic in the Air and Paper Cupcakes!! It's another fabulous Monday with a WONDERFUL image by Nina! This elephant just makes me smile! I thought she was perfect for a free-standing pop-up card (find toot here). Selma did the same design last week and great minds think alike as I'd finished this one before I saw her's! FUNNY! Anyway, Olga's challenge to us this week was RBG'S (i.e., Red ribbon, Buttons, Glitter or something that Sparkles). I think I got all of'em! I love how this one turned out...that red ribbon just calls to me!

+ Realized this afternoon that you couldn't really see Miss Ellie in all her glory as that FAB red bow was blocking her! So here's a close up of just her...

Here's a pic of the card folded...

I made the word "love" show when it's closed so the sentiment makes sense! Also this style of card helps meet my personal challenge of finishing the inside of the card too (not really one, is there?!?)! YEAH! Well, I hope this gives you some inspiration to come and play with us this week at TMITA/PCC. Just look at what you could win!

YUMMY! Can't wait to see what you do with Ellie and RBG'S!!!
Aloha, Kim

Dragon Birthday

I saw this challenge on KL Stampin N Scrappin Blog on Saturday and thought, "hum, that's looks like fun!" I've never used a dragon on a card, but had seen Dustin Pike's work before on Digital Tuesday Challenge blog and was intrigued. I grabbed some of his freebies and this seemed like the perfect time to give it a whirl. I haven't met many girls that are fans of dragons but the color challenge at Cute Card Thursday #95 called to me so here it is in all it's pink and grey glory! Layout is from Paper Sundaes (check out their new challenge blog!). A couple of places had birthday challenges and although I missed the deadline for one (The Pink Elephant #49), I think I'm still good on the other (Makeup 4 the Weekend #12). Oh yeah, I totally missed it, but Cupcake Craft Challenge #73 was "going girly" thought this fit anyway! Here's some more pics of this creation.

TFL and hope you have a great rest of the week! Aloha, Kim

Let it Snow!

Finally had a chance to make a fun card! Although where I live we don't have snow, I hear about how cold and white it's been on the mainland from my parents so this is for them! Plus I just got this Changito set and wanted to use it! I love these little guys :) So here are all the challenges I'll submit this one to:

2. Bah! Humbug! - Challenge #2 Using New or Nearly New Stash: the changito stamp is new and so is that white ribbon (thanks mom!) and it can be used as a Christmas card
3. Charisma Cardz Challenge #2 - Anything New: see above :)
4. Crafty Creations Challenge #50 - Textures: at least 3 textures, I'm counting the stickles, the liquid applique and the ribbon as my textures
5. Creative Belli Blog Challenge #82 - Glitter/Rhinestons: Got the stickles and one little rhinestone on the sentiment
6. Die Cuts R Us Challenge #21 - Leftovers:  that pp is left over from Christmas cards I made
7. Everybody Art Challenge #73 - Snowflakes
8. Fussy & Fancy Friday Challenge #2 - Winter
9. Humble Pie - Blingy (use at least two different types of bling): I've got several on here...stickles, a rhinestone, a glitter brad, and although the pic doesn't show it the white paper has a shimmer to it
10. Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge - Bling in the new year
11. La-La Land Crafts Challenge #21 - Shaped Cards: been wanting to make a circle card, perfect reason to!
12. Papertake Weekly Challenge - Sketch #32: flipped mine upside down and did it in a circle shaped, also moved that sentiment a bit...
13. Saturday Spotlight - SSHP14 - Snowflakes Gone Wild!
14. Sophsti-cat Challenge #17 - Doth the North wind blow
15. Stamp Something - Color Challenge - Blue and White
16. Stamp with Fun Challenge #41 - Snowflakes
17. Stampin B's Challenge #41 - Winter Fun Card
18. Susie and Vikki's Christmas Club Challenge #1 - snow!
19. Three Clovers Designs Challenge #47 - Baby, It's cold outside (winter theme)

Whew...think I beat mom on this one! Not that it's a competition or anything :) Of course, I've missed the deadlines on a few, but oh well!

AND this meets my personal challenge of finishing the inside of the card. Here's evidence of that!

I thought this was hilarious!

Well I hope you are able to stay warm wherever you are and if you are somewhere warm, ENJOY IT! :) Aloha, Kim

Magical Monday - Miss Kitty with Stripes

Welcome to another Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes!! This week's star is the adorable Miss Kitty and our challenge from Danielle was to use stripes with her! I'd just picked up this patterned paper at Ben Franklin on sale so it was a match made in heaven! She's colored with my fabulous Prismacolor Markers and blinged up a bit with rhinestones in the corners and on that tab at the top which, when pulled, shows...

Miss Kitty wishing someone a "purr-fect" birthday! Hehe! The layout is from the Double Slider tutorial at SCS (check it out here). It really was pretty easy to make (this was my first one) and meets my personal challenge of finishing the inside of the card too! YEAH!

Hope you have a "fantastical" week and see you back here next week for another awesome image and challenge! Aloha, Kim

MOJO-licious creation!

Here's my submission for the MOJO120 Contest. I also used my NEW Cuttlebug Asian embossing folder on this one and my new Lables 3 Nestability so I'm submitting this to the following "NEW" challenges:
I'm going to submit this for these additional challenges too:
Okay that covers it for this one. OH! Wait, I forgot my personal challenge of finishing the inside of the card too. So here's the proof that I met MY challenge too!

Love you much!

Here's another card for my mom's SU! party. I'm loving Joy Fold cards as it makes it so easy to finish the inside!! I went a little crazy with the paper piercer :) Oh well, I think it works. Again all supplies are SU! (except for that little rhinestone, but it just needed something!). I used the color challenge from Charisma Cardz - Week 1- Pink, Brown, Cream, and Toffee. Such a yummy combo and the DSP that I had matched it so well!

Here's the card opened (I even stamped on the inside!)

TFL and hope you have a great Sunday!

Aloha, Kim

SU! 3x3 Valentine's card set

Okay, this is going to be a long post as I was inspired to play in a bunch of challenges today but made about a card for each one, and each card is 3x3 so it was even a bit more challenging! So the story behind this, my mom is having a SU! party in a couple of weeks and I volunteered to make some samples that she could share (and hopefully inspire others to purchase supplies from her! Wonder what my take will be?!?) :) Anyway, I'll start with what I just finished which is this 3x3 notecard box.

Followed the toot from SCS (found here). Will also submit this to the Project Tuesday challenge which was to create a 3x3 Notecard box. Here it is open...

Card #1:

Followed the sketch from Diva Coffee Break Challenges #159. And I'll also submit this for Day 312 at 365 Cards - Metal Mania.

Card #2

This one was based on Day 309 - Super Sketchy Sunday at 365 Cards. Also for Creative Card Crew Challenge #42 - Distressing.

Card #3

Followed sketch from CCEE Stampers #1001.

Card #4

Followed sketch from Stamping 411 - SSC133.

Card #5

Followed sketch from Our Creative Corner/Stamps and Smiles #47.

Card #6

Followed the sketch from Delightful Sketches #14. Will also submit this one to Spoonful of Sugar's #85 - Hearts.

Okay so that's all the 3x3 cards and their challenges. Whew! As for my personal challenge of finishing the insides of cards this year...I did either stamp or attach paper on the insides of all these cards AND stamped the envelopes and scalloped the envelop flaps! Okay, I'll post the other one I made last night in a bit. Gotta rest my fingers for now :)

Aloha, Kim

Magical Monday - Painted Pony

Welcome to the FIRST 2010 Magical Monday challenge at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes! Hard to believe it's already 2010 and the holidays are over...they just seem to come and go faster every year! Whew!

Anyway, here's my first creation of the new year and what a bright way to start the year! Patti's challenge to us was to use Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, and Always Artichoke on our creation. I paper pieced my pony with those colors with the addition of the Very Vanilla base (gotta have a neutral!). The yellow pp is from a recycled paper stack I had (thanks mom!) and the brown pp is from Cosmo Cricket. Because I was a bit late in getting this one done (thanks for your patience, Nina!), I was able to use the layout challenge from Get Sketchy (#19).

The top layer lifts up and you can see I somewhat sorta finished inside of the card. :)

That's one of my goals this year, to finish the inside of my cards too! I usually spend so much time on the front that I'm too lazy to do the inside too...but when I show them to others, they always seem disappointed when they look inside. So I'll try to do more finishing of the inside.

Okay, so that's it for this week, hope you can play along with us at TMITA!!! I love seeing all that you guys come up with! And a BIG "E KOMO MAI" (welcome) to our new Design Team members and January's Guest Designer! Be sure to check out all the other DT/GDs blogs (see links on sidebar)! They ROCK!

Aloha, Kim
