Hau'oli Makahiki Hou!

Here's a quick card for my last post of 2010!! Well, it was quick to make but waiting for those stickles to dry on the top of the cupcake took forever! :) Anyway, this is using this week's challenge image at Delightful Inspirations. If you didn't get it free for playing last week you can find in the store and play along. Just a reminder next week will be the first challenge of the month and the image is free for everyone! Come on by and check it out. So I took the candle off the image as I wanted this to be a thank you card and thought the candle made it look too much like a birthday card. Here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Aly's Sunday Challenge - Anything goes
2. Anything Goes Challenge Blog - The letter C: got a big ol'Cupcake on this one!
3. Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog - anything goes
4. Bee Crafty - DOWNLOADS - rough around the edges + digi image: I roughed up the patterned paper edges

7. Colour Create Challenge Blog - pink, red, and white + optional hearts: I love this color combo!

9. Cupcake Craft Challenges - thank you
10. Cute Card Thursday - thank you
11. Die cut Dreams Challenge blog - girlie
12. Digi Doodle Shop's Best - Anything goes
13. digital tuesday challenge - anything goes + digi

16. Papertake Weekly Challenge - be thankful
17. Sassy Studio Designs - thank you
18. Simple Doodles - embossing: kinda hard to tell but I embossed the white panel with the thank you cuttlebug folder
19. Stamp Something - something glittery: covered the top of the cupcake with pink stickles...yummy!
20. The Corrosive Challenge Blog!! - bling

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful and safe New Year's Eve and a FABULOUS 2011! Malie and I will be holed up in my bedroom this evening with the air conditioner on (hard to believe for some of you, I know) trying to muffle the sound of all the fireworks! It gets crazy and Malie's decided, after two years, she doesn't like fireworks anymore...ugh! Can't decide if she or I should be tranquilized to get through this! Oh well! Take care and aloha,

365 Cards - Day 304 - Flashback Wednesday

This week at 365 Cards we're having flashbacks to challenges from the previous year. I picked Day 209 - Keep It Simple (One image, a sentiment, one embellishment, and limit the amount of space you use on the card to about 1/3 of the entire space available). I think I went a little bit over the 1/3 of space part of the challenge but it's pretty close. I found this super cute Anya freebie at Splendid Stamping with The Greeting Farm and just had to use her! What a cute way to greet the New Year! Here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Allsorts Challenge Blog - Free and Easy - anything goes
2. C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - New Year (new beginnings)
3. Catch The Bug Challenge Blog - New Year
4. clean&simple - sketch
5. Crafty Ann's Challenge Blog - Anything goes
6. CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS - Black, silver, and gold
7. For Fun Challenges - New year
8. Paper Playtime - New Year's related
9. Paper Sundaes - Cut it out: I cut around the headband a bit

Thanks for stopping by and here's hoping you have a wonderful 2011!!
Aloha,

Couple DT posts...

Mele Kalikimaka eve, eve (or merry eve before the eve of Christmas!)!! Here's a couple of cards that I'm a little behind in posting for my DT spots. My excuse for the lateness? The parents are visiting me and we've been working on some home improvement projects...kinda sad that I make them visit me in Hawaii and then we spend most of our time working on the inside of my house! Oh well, it's been raining quite a bit anyway so not much else we can do :) So here's my Wednesday card for 365 Cards which was to "Think Cute!" So easy peasy and I love this little monkey from Some Odd Girl digi stamps!
I used the sketch from Mojo Monday.

And here's my D2D card too!
Well, that's it for now! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season wherever you are and I'll be back next week with more regular posts!
Aloha,

365 Cards - Day 290 - Touchy Feely

Aloha and welcome to another wonderfully wintry day at 365 Cards! Well, as Gloria likes to remind me neither of us really experience wintry weather where we live but I still like to make cards in that theme! It's about as close to the cold white stuff as I want to get! :) Anyway, today's challenge is to use texture in three ways, either wet or dry embossing, glitter or flocking, and fabric or lace (you pick one from each group to meet this challenge). Well, I didn't have any fabric or lace that I liked with this card so I used a "lace" border punch for that element along with my dry embossing (the snowflake panel that I wiped platinum ink over) and the flower soft for the snow. Since I "cheated" a bit, I also added some extra texture through glittery stickles for the snow and the big faux brads (look like snowballs to me!), that sliver cord in the middle of the lace, the glitter paper behind the image (can you see it? It shows just a little) and then that fabulous starburst/snowflake mirror brad! Whew! This was a fun card to make and I got to use another fabulous image from Faith at Delightful Inspiration/Designed2Delight (it's this week's freebie if you played last week. If not, get it in her store and play along to get next week's image for free!). Here's a picture of the inside:
And here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:

17. Stamp, Scrap & Doodle Saturday - monochromatic
18. Stampin' Royalty - Winter holidays
19. The Pink Elephant -  winter wonderland
20. Totally Gorjuss - snow

Lastly but not least, I also wanted to wish Faith at Designed2Delight a fabulous birthday (it's this Wednesday)!!! Hau'oli La Hanau (Happy birthday), Faith!! Here's a card I made for her using one her fabulous images, Cardinal and Winterberry! (Find it here in her store!)
I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. Added a bit of stickles for the snow on the berries and sponged a blue sky with ink. It might be hard to see but I used the 5x7 snowflake embossing folder for the background and I used a corner embossing folder with snowflakes on the inside (couldn't get a good picture of that!). Here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Bee Crafty - DOWNLOADS - winter themed card but not a Christmas card + digi
2. Critter Sketch Challenge Blog  - no patterned paper
3. Frosted Designs - ribbon
4. Hand Stamped Sentiments - snowflakes
6. Mami Doodles: Digital Stamps - anything goes
8. Order of the Opus Gluei  - share anything you have made
9. Papertake Weekly Challenge - Christmas birthdays
10. Pixie Dust Studio Pixie Challenge - let it snow (white and non-traditional colors): well, it's a non-traditional color combo!
11. Sketches by Carly - sketch
12. Stamp Something - digi day
13. Stamps R Us - anything goes
14. The Crafty Pad - embossing
15. Wags ‘n Whiskers - snowflakes

Thanks for sticking it out for this long post! This will probably be my last long post for awhile as my parents are coming for a visit starting Friday! YEAH! I should have my 365 Cards post for the next few weeks but likely no others. Hope everyone has a happy, safe and warm holiday season!

Mele Kalikimaka and Hau'oli Makahiki Hou! (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!),
