365 Cards - Day 185 & D2D Challenge Reminder

Hello and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday with 365 Cards and Designed2Delight! Yes, I'm back with a post for both of my DTs :) YAY! Anyway, first up is today's challenge at 365 Cards which is a "white space" challenge...
So the challenge is to keep your stamping/decoration/embellies to the black spaces only...

I think I did pretty good! I did an "emerging color/emboss resist" technique to create the flowers on the bottom and the panel is actually brayer with Early Espresso ink, although it looks black in the photo (guess I should've played a bit more with the photo editing software!). The stamp set is a retired SU! set called "Fabulous Flowers" and I love that sentiment! Of course I had to bling it up a bit! So here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Creative Card Crew - anything goes
2. Just Add Ink - add something you've had in your stash for awhile: I've had the Poppy Parade ink pad for awhile and just unwrapped for this card!
3. My Time To Craft Challenge - in full bloom
4. The Sisterhood of Crafters - use a flower
5. Totally Gorjuss - as you like it

Next up is my sample for this week's progressive challenge at Designed2Delight. Well, I guess you don't need a reminder since the next image is free to everyone, but I loved this image so much I couldn't pass up playing along!
So here's Maisie Belle all ready for school! I "paper pieced" her and the background with free digital papers from Stacy K Designs. The piecing was done in photoshop so no fussy cutting needed! Then I colored in the rest with my trusty Copics. I borrowed the wording of the sentiment from a Changito stamp set that I have but I re-worked it in Word to fit in a circle and gathered the ruler twill tape behind that.
Here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. allsorts challenge blog - back to school
2. Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges - anything goes + digi
3. Delightful challenges - digital paper
4. Paper Issues - learning curve
5. Paper Pretties - back to school
6. PaperPlay Challenges - back to school/starting school
7. Phindy’s Friday challenge - make your own embellishments: I'm counting my gathered "flower" as my embellishment
8. Sassy Studio Designs - back to school
9. Sentimental Sundays - back to school + sentiment
10. Stamp Something - back to school somethings
11. The Pink Elephant - paper piecing
13. TotallyPaperCrafts - back to school
14. Whoopsi Daisy Challenge - autumn colors

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get to play along in this week's challenges!

D2D Christmas card for a Child challenge

Saturday's challenge at D2D is to create a Christmas card for a child. Well, since I'm getting farther away from understanding what kids want for gifts, I thought a gift card holder was perfect for a child! Here it is closed...
And here it is open...
Hehe, no I wouldn't give a child a Costco card, but that's what I had handy for the picture! :) So for this creation I took Faith's "Present" image and supersized it to about 5.5x6" and printed it twice on the base cardstock. I also printed it several more times to get the paper piecing going. I took one of the bases and folded it at the bottom of the image..making an envelope and trimming around the sides and top. Then on the second base, I cut the top of the image and added a bit of an insert to fit in the bottom. Added a strip of the patterned paper to the insert to hold the gift card. And that's it!

Here's some other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Catch The Bug Challenge Blog - warm colors + paper piecing
4. Digi Doodle Shop 's Best - anything goes
6. Some Odd Girl Challenge blog - paper piecing

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you get a chance to play along in this week's challenge!

365 Cards - Day 177

Aloha and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday with 365 Cards! Today's challenge is to be inspired by this album cover that I found:
Sometimes I'm pretty literal in my interpretations of inspiration pieces! Banners are so in right now and I have this super cool SU! pennant punch (thanks Mom!) that I've been wanting to use and this was perfect! Plus, I've really not ever used this stamp set from Papertrey Ink! Then it was just a matter of embossing and ripping some green cardstock for the ground...FUN! And as usual here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. Aud Sentiments Challenge Blog - anything goes
2. Card Makin’ Mamas - pink
3. CES challenges - bunting, banners, or flags
4. Challenge up your life - no patterned paper
5. Craft Us Crazy - anything goes
6. Freshly Brewed Challenge - emboss it
7. Hand Stamped Sentiments - banner
8. Karens Doodles Challenge Blog - punches and die cuts
9. OLLCB - no backing paper
10. PaperCrafting Journey - anything goes
11. The Friday Mashup - buttons, cupcakes, or both: I didn't "mash'em up" this week...

Thanks for stopping by again this week and can't wait to see how you're inspired by my choice of album cover!

Saturday Fun...

Aloooooohaaaaa! Well, I took some time to "just play" in some challenges today and make a card for my cousin that's starting college. This image reminded me of her and I really do wish her "good luck" in all her future pursuits. This image also reminds me of myself in college and spending many nights camped out on my bed studying...and daydreaming! I used My Minds Eye Stella and Rose paper on this one and kept the embellishments off so it's easier to mail!. Kinda hard to tell but the red panel behind the image is embossed with the square lattice folder from Sizzix/SU!. Here's the inside...
I love this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt. I'm planning to add a gift card holder to the top as a little something for her.

Here's the challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. 2 Sisters Challenge Blog - back to school
2. Bee Crafty - DOWNLOADS - crop and chop image (digi)
3. CardPatterns - sketch
4. Copic Creations - blue/green: I used BG 10, 11, 13 & BG 05, 07 to color the nightgown and flowers on the pillow
5. Crafts and Me - blue or blue/greens
6. Creative Inspirations Challenge - back to school
7. Fairy Tale Challenge blog - back to school
8. Hand Stamped Sentiments - stitching
9. little red wagon - back to school
10. Speedy the Cat’s Friends Challenge - emboss it
11. Mo’s Challenge - feeling blue + Mo image
12. My Time To Craft Challenge - G is for "Girl image"
13. Paper Pretties - back to school
14. Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge - back to school
15. Pixie Dust Studio Pixie Challenge - a tween teen's dream
16. The Pink Elephant - stitching
