Aloha and welcome to another wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards and Designed2Delight! First up is my creation for this week's 365 Card Challenge which is to make a spinner card. Well, I've made several of these before for graduation cards and another fun one (see here), but Pam gave a link to a slightly different technique that I wanted to try and this is what I came up with (if you want a "traditional" spinner card here's the tutorial to do that from SCS). I used a 1/8" eyelet and a 1/4" brad to make the spinner "parts" which is great because you can use a smaller image (yes, mother, no snowballs necessary!) than if you use a penny or other coin denomination. :) Love it! I know there's a way to combine these pictures into one, but I'm not sure how so you just get three in a row showing the fishy spinning across the "sky"!
The images are a retired Stampin' Up set "Shellebrate." The sentiment is from that set too, but it's really small so I typed it into Word and jazzed it up a bit! My big half circle was traced from my colored pencil tin and for the scallops I used a corner rounder (haven't done that in awhile, see here for a tutorial). Images are colored with Copics and a blinged it up a bit with rhinestones and stickles!! Other challenges I was inspired by for this one include:
1. CardPatterns - sketch
2. Challenge up your life - circles

Next up is my creation sample for this week's D2D Saturday challenge which is "Red, White, Blue and/or Christmas too!" I tried to make it a Christmas card (that's why I choose the God Bless America angel image), but it really just turned into a 4th of July card! Oh well, it was fun to layer all that My Mind's Eye paper up! I also took come "creative license" with the color blue...I wanted to use the paper and it's more a turquoise but I think it still counts!
The "God Bless America" image is colored with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. All the layers but the image one are machine stitched. It's hard to tell but the Bermuda Bay panel is embossed with a striped folder and the stars are cut out of the Cuttlebug's stars embossing folder (I saw somebody else do that so I can't take credit for it!) And don'tcha just love a big satiny bow every once in awhile?!? Here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
