Magical Monday - Penguin Skating

Aloha and Welcome to another TMITA FREE image and challenge! This week was my challenge idea which was to use a reflective material (e.g., metallic paper, foil, mirrors, etc) on your card (or project). When I saw this image I immediately thought of a reflective surface looking like ice for the penguin to skate on. So here's the front of my card again.

I also finished the inside of this one (which is something I don't do often but really should). Used the scraps from the front which was very economical!

And here are the deets:
Image: free image from TMITA was colored with prismacolor markers (I know brown penguins only exist in juvenile penguins but the one I colored dark grey just didn't work for me so I used brown instead!), The sky was sponged with Soft Sky (SU!) ink and the "ice" (directly below the image) was created by dragging a Brilliance Platinum dew drop ink pad across the cardstock. Image was cut out with Nesties (see here for a quick toot on how to "cut out of the box" with Nesties to allow part of the image to extend outside the shape) and layered with a scalloped Nestie. Used Liquid Applique on the brim and ball of the hat and Sakura Gelly Roll Clear Star pen on the skates.
Papers: Bo Bunny  "Tis the Season Treasure"; SU! Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, and Whisper White; Best Occasions Metallic Paper Pack (hard to tell in the picture but the bottom of the front is a silver metallic paper that is reflecting the color of the wall in my room and the cardstock it's sitting on...guess I could've taken it so you could see me too or at least my camera!)

Techniques: Scallop of papers was freehanded. The only other "technique" (other than the aforementioned sponging and direct to paper inking) was using Grafix Rub-onz to apply the sentiment (first time I used this product, was pretty easy but probably cost prohibitive to use frequently (about $10 for 4-8.5x11" sheets)).

Layout: Very loosely based on SCS SC17

Embellies/Other: rhinestone snowflakes are from Hero Arts

Okay, think that about covers it. If you have any questions, please let me know and thanks for checking out my blog! Your comments are much appreciated! Aloha and mahalo, Kim

Really cute Kim. I really like your colorful snowflake paper and then will have to try the idea on using the Nestabilities. I didn't even notice he was brown because I was looking at everything else. Your card is super cute.
