Stamptacular Sunday Challege Bonus

This is my card for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge Bonus - Build a Card bloghop. I've been wanting to use some of my ME stamps and this was a great reason to do that! Colors are: Baja Breeze, Yoyo Yellow, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, and Basic Black. It's hard to tell but I put stickles on the centers of the flowers for the "sparkle" and the charm was already kinda sparkley itself. TFL!

The following are the cards I made prior to the one above. These are my submissions for various SCS challenges from this past week (July 12-18).

ON GOLDEN POND
This is my card for the following challenges:
  • CAS23-inspiration from Art.com (here's my inspiration piece)
  • WT227-Seeing Double - I expanded this to include the mirror image of the tree in the pond
  • LSC229-Wedding/High School colors and staples, clips or photo turns - My high school colors were black/gold. I wanted to use photo turns but realized that I didn't have any! So the clip at the top is intended to look like its holding it to an easel or display board.
  • Oh yeah, although not a challenge, this is also a belated birthday card for my dad. He was a forestry major and is a woodworker so trees are usually a safe bet with him :)

Purple Peony This is my card for the following challenges:

  • CC227-Lavendar Lace, Barely Banana, Going Gray, Black and White - it's hard to tell in the photo but the white layer is stamped with a canvas stamp in barely banana ink. Also the flower was colored with a white gel pen.
  • SC237-layout challenge
  • IC189-inspiration from TracyPorter.com - Here's the bags I was inspired by. Mixed it up a bit to meet the color challenge but liked the white gel pen coloring (but was my hand tired after all that!)
  • Another "oh yeah", although my mom already guessed, I was planning to use this for my parents' wedding anniversay which is 8/15...unless I come up with something else by then...hum

Okay, so that's my creations for this past weekend. Not sure I'll get to post any next weekend as I'm planning to paint my office/craft/guest bedroom (seems like a lot of people are doing that lately!). Anyway, my materials will be all piled in the middle of the room and not sure when I'll get it all put away. Wish me luck! :)

Puppy Party!!

Okay, didn't have a chance to make cards today because I was preparing for the PUPPY PARTY! Malie and I went over (actually through) the mountain to the otherside of the island to party with her brother, KJ; her sisters, Maile, Pomai and Bella and all their families...well at least the female parts of their families (the husbands and most of the sons were mysteriously absent from this shindig...) Malie had a BALL and actually wore a dress all day! (it helped tell the puppies apart as they are very similar looking.) Here's some pics:
This is the birthday cupcake that I made for the puppies. Found the recipe on-line and it was super easy to make. That's carrots on top.

Here's Malie enjoying her cake. I was kinda worried that she wouldn't eat it as she can be finicky about WHEN she eats, but she dug right in and ate most it except for some of the icing.

Here's all the puppies (from left to right): Maile, Malie, Bella, KJ and Pomai

Here's the present and cake layout before the were given to the puppies.

Pretty part girl Malie...the hat just happened to match the dress (BTW I have only bought her a raincoat to wear (and she has yet to wear it outside)...all other clothes are provided by others but she seems to be getting used to wearing them). The hats are actually gift toppers that I took the loop off of and added an elastic chin strap to hold it on their heads. Worked perfectly.

Puppy Pails

Okay, here's the pics of the pails as promised. These were super simple which is kinda unusual for me (I tend to make things more difficult than they need to be!) I was going to wrap puppy-themed paper around the pail but after looking at the treats and using the clear pail it appeared unnecessary to me. Just a simple paw print ribbon around the top and something on the top. It's hard to tell in the pic but I found alphabet letter dog treats at PetCo and used those to spell out each puppy's name (this one is for Maile).
The next one is of the top of the pail. I used my BRAND NEW JustRite stamper and did the sentiment and name. The birthday cake stamp in the middle is from one of the StudioG clear $1 sets (either purchased at Michaels (on the mainland) or at Ben Franklin (here on the island). I love those sets! I then used my cuttlebug and nesties to cut out the circle and scalloped circle behind (this one is black so a bit hard to see... the others were red, blue, and green to make the collars on the cards). TFL!
PS you may notice the format of my blog is different. I found a 3 column template on-line and after several emails with the tech people at the website I worked out most of the kinks. You will notice that the format of leaving comments is different now...had to have it pop up in a separate window as the template did not allow for in blog comments. If you experience any other problems please let me know and TFL! Aloha!

Puppy Birthday Card

This is the birthday card that my puppy will be giving to her siblings at their first birthday party next Saturday. I was stamped out after making four different cards yesterday, so I was inspired by this card -- http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1408374 -- to make a punch art puppy. I also found the blog she refers to and modified it a bit from each so that it looks more like my puppy and of course, she needed a birthday hat! :) Oh yeah, the other side has the sentiment found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1405580?cat=500&ppuser=157258

And I'm submitting this to CAS22 and TLC228

I made four of these (one for her brother, and 3 sisters) and each is a bit different...well the collars are different colors and each hat is bit different...the girls have pink ones and the boy's is baja breeze. She will also be giving out 3" clear paint pails filled with doggie treats to her brother and sisters. I will get a picture up latter this week of those. TFL!

4 Cards in ONE day!

I've never made four different cards in one day, but was very inspired today! YEAH!

Today was also Malie's birthday so we played this morning with all her new toys from Gma and Gpa...although it's a bit small on her, she's an official Cards fan now! hehe! (Can you tell she HATES weating clothes?!?)

Okay back to the cards from today...
Not the best photo, but this is a wedding card I made for a co-worker. Her invite had a shimmery palm tree and water on white cs. So that was my inspiration and then I also tried to meet the following challenges in this card:
SC236 - Layout
LSC228 - Cropt It (hard tell but the palm tree is cropped a bit on the side, top and bottom)
StampinB #14 - Neutrals Only (whisper white and Sahara Sand)
This is my submission for the following challenges:
CC226 - Bashful Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Apricot Appeal, and Creamy Caramel
WT226 - Christmas in July
No traditional Christmas colors here! But living in Hawaii that's easy to do :) The tree is colored with the color challenge markers, embossed, and then the sand/water/sky were sponged in the same colors. Use a white gel pen to add some foam at the beach line and to the some of the ornaments before embossing. The layer with the sentiment is distressed which I thought made it look beach weathered...also thought the DSP looked a bit like a beach towel pattern.
Is it Christmas yet? I may modify the colors a bit and use this as my Christmas card this year... :)
This is one of my submissions for challenge IC188. Here is the item my card is based on: http://www.chasing-fireflies.com/monkey-around-growth-chart/productinfo/25551/
The monkeys are from multiple Changito sets (I love these guys!), stamped on WW, colored with prismamarkers, embossed, and the background was sponged with CC craft ink. I'm also adding this to Monday's CAS22 challenge - birthday card. It's not too clean, but it was pretty simple :)
Here's my second submission to the IC188 challenge. It is based on this cake from the Chasing Fireflies catalog: http://www.chasing-fireflies.com/blue-seashell-cheesecake/productinfo/25814/
I've had this stamp set from Heidi Grace and just hadn't found a project for them. I wanted to use my prismacolored pencils for this one so that's what the seahorse and jellyfish are colored with (with gamsol). The sand and water are sponged with brilliance ink...gives is sparkle. I smuged one spot, hence, the addition of the "imagine" word window...doesn't quite work but oh well! ;) Used liquid pearls to add the sparkle to the seaweed (that's for you, Mom!)
Oh yeah, the 365 challenge was to be inspire by bubbles...how else do you breathe underwater?!? :)

Well, that was my Saturday! :) Tomorrow will probably be spent getting puppy gifts/cards made as next Saturday will be spent with Malie's siblings celebrating their first birthday! yeah, yeah, I know...have a kid already (would make my mother happy), but puppies are so much easier! :) Anyway, hope this finds you well and have a wonderful time wherever you are.
Aloha

Fourth of July weekend cards

Okay, I've had several requests to add to my blog...just want to take a second to remind those individuals that I'm still working my full-time job, even though it is summer! :) So my card creations usually occur on the weekends. Here's what I did last weekend, which was a great weekend because I had THREE whole days to be creative! Well, two days ended up being card making the third was cleaning up/organizing my work space some more...a neverending endeavor as far as I can tell.
Card #1
This is my second submission for challenge(s), but my first using multiple challeges. It was a lot of fun to try to combine more than one challenge and meet the requirements of each. There may be some massaging of the requirements, but I think it works. The colors are for CC225, the layout is SC235, and there's no stamping (i.e., uses diecuts (expanded to include punches) and digis - the sentiment was printed off the computer) for LSC227. It's also my tribute to summer/the 4th and I'm guessing there's a challenge somewhere for that, but I don't know where... :)

Card #2
I got stuck in the no stamping mode so this card includes diecuts only and uses my NEW cricut :) Wanted to try this tri-shutter card, knowing it's been awhile since this challenge, but better late than never.

Card #3
Here's my submission for Saturday's inspiration challenge on SCS. The poster this is based on can be found here: http://www.posters.com/pv-468305_Meadow-Suite-I.html I also added this to the CAS21 challenge as I think the gold paint around the edge adds a bit of sparkle. Plus Karen Dunbrook made it a CAS FAV on Sunday!! YEAH! I'm very new to all the challenges and I'm finding it very rewarding.

Card #4
I'm thinking of giving this a co-worker for her birthday. Not sure I like it, had a hard time putting it together after coloring the scene. Anyway, I've got until August to decide! Also used this for another card for the IC187 challenge. Here's the insipration: http://www.posters.com/pv-399001_Jap...--Blossom.html

Also used it for StampinBs use metal challenge.

Okay, that was what I did this past weekend. Oh yeah, here's what my puppy did as I made cards....

If you're wondering, she's looking out the vent hole in my window for my in-room a/c...unfortunately, on Saturday I set up the a/c so she doesn't have this view anymore :( Oh well, she seemed to like the a/c on Sunday so I think she'll be okay until Fall :)

Also, wanted to let you know...if you want some details on cards I post here, you can also view them at SCS in my gallery: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=157583

You'll also find some other cards/projects I've made in the last year or so on there...thanks for looking!

Aloha, Kim

Test #1

I'm new to this so this is my test to see how this all works :) I'm hoping to use this as a means of sharing my paper creations and hearing from others. Everyone else seems to be doing it so I thought I should try too!

Here's a pic to see how this works.
I'll try one of my puppy.
Well, that worked!
This is Malie. Isn't she cute?!? She HATES wearing clothes, fancy collars, etc, so I only put them on her long enough to take a picture (or two or three!)

Thanks for looking and hope this works to publish!

Aloha
