Magical Monday - Easter Lillies

Welcome to another edition of Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes. Today we have the gorgeous Easter Lillies image by Nina available for free at the TMITA blog and the challenge is set by Sue who says, "ANYTHING GOES - Make a card to showcase this beautiful image how ever you like!" I chose to try a technique that I'd seen for awhile but had never tried. It's called "cracked glass" and you can find the tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers (here). I colored my image with Prismacolored pencils, and it was very soft and subtle, then when I embossed it the colors became much brighter. Oh well, still not too bad for a first attempt! I also made this card with a detachable bookmark (inspired by this toot at SCS, although I made mine with my Scor-Pal and perforating rotary blade on my paper cutter). Here's a picture of the inside:
I printed the bookmark image and quote on watercolor paper and colored again with my Prisma pencils. Hope mom like this one for mother's day! :) I actually chose the quote because it really does fit my mom. Although she would LOVE to have me live closer to home (in fact she has a house just waiting for me right next door to her!), she understands that I've had to live my life which has lead me to Hawaii (can't get much further away from her without leaving the U.S.!). She also fostered my love of reading, so who better to give a bookmark too! (are you crying yet, mom? Thought I'd get your Monday off to a really sappy start!)

Why don't  you play along with us this week at TMITA? Look what you could win!

Here's my other inspirations for this one:
1. Alota Rubber Stamps - Mother's Day
3. Crafty Ann - Recipe: one main digi image, a maximum of 3 colours (although you can use less), one ribbon, three flowers (these can be digi too if you wish): just realized I used four colors on the image...not sure if that counts or not...
4. Crafty Creations Challenges - distressing
5. Dare you to digi stamp Friday - Flowers + digi
6. digital tuesday challenge - April Flowers or April Showers + digi
7. Frosted Designs - mask something: I masked the main image to sponge the outside frame blue
8. lili of the valley - sketch
9. My Time to Craft challenge - quick quotes
10. Our Creative Corner - blossoms
11. Paper Cutz Challenge - Mother's Day using a digital or hand stamped image and any colors you'd like
12. PaperPlay Challenges - no patterned paper
13. S2G challenges - flowers
14. Saturday Challenge - distressing
15. Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog - Create a project with a glossy or glassy effect

Aloha and hope you have a fantastic week!

Awe Kim, the tears are running down my face! You are the BESTEST daughter in the whole wide world.

FYI for other readers, Kim is my only. She use to ask for siblings but it just wasn't in God's plans. To help her deal with being an only I told her that God gave us the very best child ever so he knew that we didn't need any more children. And she has been the best! She has fulfilled all my dreams of being a mother and for that, I thank her.

OK on with the reality show - your card is gorgeous and I am so glad that I will be getting it for Mother's Day! You inspire me DD!

Have a great day! Love, SAM aka MOM
