Magical Monday - Spring

A huge ALOOOOOOHAAAAAA for today's Magical Monday at There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes! I'm particularly excited for today's challenge as I got to use the fabulous NEW image from Nina's store appropriately named "Aloha"!!! And then add in Selma's "Spring Challenge" where we're to celebrate Spring with cards that have 3-D flowers and leaves, what a PERFECT way to honor my adopted home state!!!  So here's some deets:

~ The lei of plumeria-looking flowers were made using the SU! 5 petal flower punch - I was inspired here, which lead me here to find out how to make them. I modified mine a bit as I used pretty in pink paper as my base. I tried pinching the petals like she did, but my paper was too stiff and just wrinkled. So I curled mine around a paint brush to get a slight curl. I sponged the center of the flowers with crushed curry and brushed the sides/tips with melon mambo.

~ Hard to tell but there's a leaf ribbon under the flowers. The sheer ribbon on the side is similar to what you you would find on a real lei. A bow is tied where the ends are joined.

~ Wondering about my funny looking duck? Well, to go even further with my Hawaiian theme, I colored with Prismacolor pencils this bird to look similar to a Nene ("nay-nay") goose, which is the Hawaiian state bird.
