Checkerboard Quilt

Day 179 - Checkerboard BackgroundHappy Saturday Everyone!
Here's my submission for the Checkerboard Background challenge at 365 cards...not sure why this one was harder for me...couldn't decide what to do. Anyway, I was inspired by a birth announcement I received this week from a childhood friend, so this will be going to him and his family. Of course, it's a boy so used Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White and Parisian Breeze DSP. I weaved 1" strips of paper into the checkerboard pattern, trimmed to fit card front. Itty Bitty buttons were tied on and the zig-zag on the edge was hand-sewn (gotta get that sewing machine out and figure out how to that on there! Knew it would take too long to do that today, maybe when I don't need it for a challenge!). I had trouble with the ribbon, couldn't get it trimmed straight, so it ended up a bit short, but oh well. :) TFL!

Day 182 - Sporty Saturday

Okay, adding this one to my previous post from today. I think this one makes the final one from this week's 365 Card challenges. I just bought this "I [heart] my dog" set - Hero Arts last night and was stoked that I could use it today! This doggie reminds me of my puppy and how she hops around the yard! So funny to watch. Anyway, although the set has a ball, I cut one out from some patterned paper I had and drew in the bouncy lines. The "grass" was hand cut. It's not really "sporty" although I'm sure the dogs think playing fetch/catch qualifies as a sport! :) Thanks again for looking! Aloha!

David and Sarah will love your card for their new baby! What a take on the checker board challenge to make a quilt. It's another, "I wish I had thought of that!" Beautiful!

They are both great cards Kim. I love the dog playing fetch the most as it is different from the rest today.
