365 Cards - Day 206 - Winter Wonderland

Alooooooooha and E Komo Mai (welcome) to another wonderful Wednesday at 365 Cards!! Today's challenge is to create a Winter Wonderland scene. Well, it's been several years since I've seen a "traditional" winter wonderland scene in person so I went with something that I'm more likely to see here in Hawaii! And as I tell my dad almost every time it snows in Missouri..."No, I don't miss it." :0) For today's card, I used the "I'm melting for you" image from Robyn's Fetish and digitally combined it with the palm tree stamp from SU! old "Sunny Season's Greeting" set. To combine the two stamps, I stamps the rubber stamp on a piece of paper, scanned it into my computer, cleaned it up a bit in the Paint program, and flipped one to make a mirror image. I did this both to combine the images easily (no masking) and to change the size of the palm trees as I needed them to be a bit smaller to fit on the 4.25x5.5 card. The images were then printed out and colored with copics. I did mask the image in order to sponge the sand, sea, and sky. Glassy accents were added to the lights to mask them for the coloring of the background.

Here's the inside:
I used a bit of some fab digi paper also from Robyn's Fetish for the background paper on the front as well as the top of the inside. Here's the other challenges I was inspired by for this one:
1. A Spoon Full of Sugar - Anything goes
2.  Catch the Bug - create a card for OWH: that's why I needed it to be 4.25x5.5...hopefully I'll get in the mail to them soon!
3. Creative Inspirations Challenge - 2 or more stamped images: hope digital images are acceptable :)
4. Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge - celebration cards: celebrating the upcoming holiday season
5. Paper Romance - birthday/Christmas card for OWH
6. Stamp Something - use a digi
7. Taylored Expressions - sketch
8. The Corrosive Challenge Blog!! - been awhile since I used the palm tree stamp
9. The Pink Elephant - recipe: color aqua, designer paper, and embellie of choice: got a bit of aqua in the water :)
10. Treehouse Thursday Challenge- sponged background

Thanks for stopping by and can't wait to see all your winter wonderland scenes!
Aloha,

Awe - Now I'm in the mood to get those plane tickets! And what a 'techy' you are! Not sure I could have completed all those steps on the computer to put together such a lovely, wintery card! What a creative way to use the melting snowman digi combined with the warm colors of paradise! Have a great day, Love, SAM aka MOM

ps Surely you miss the excitement of the first snow flakes falling, covering the ground in the glistening white and knowing that school is being cancelled?

Oh my gosh Kim, this is SO cute and wow...amazing that you can do all that tech stuff. I was like "huh?" when I was reading your explanation! :) Your card turned out great. I love the cute melted snowman combined with the "warm wishes" sentiment. Too funny. Congrats on combining all of those challenges too! Thanks for making Catch the Bug with Bugaboo one of them! I hope you'll join us for our next challenge this Saturday!

This is just awesome! I too have tried making digis out of my SU stamps, but didn't know the secret to "cleaning them up." Thanks so much for the tip. LOVE everything about this card. Next time I'm in HI, I'm visiting YOU!
